The Group Historic city of Cortona is composed of archers, flag bearers, musicians, nobles, ladies and other extras. It represents a moment of history and entertainment in the Traditional Historical Re-enactment of the "Joust", which takes place every year in Cortona (AR) on the first Sunday of the month of June and gives rise to numerous cultural and folkloric within 15 days before the Joust.
The Wavers are the pride of the Historical Group of the town of Cortona. Their intent is to teach young students the ancient art of the Flag, expression and symbol of sound principles such as loyalty, fairness, brotherhood, love, honor, and team spirit. A peculiar characteristic that distinguishes the Company Sbandieratori is to perform exercises in highly technical and athletic, both with the flag short, both with flags of 4m in length, and very suggestive choreography.
The Group Musici, consisting of drums, trumpets and timpani, accompanies and gives movement to the procession in the various exhibitions. The musicians themselves are characterized by the beautiful choreography that offer during their performances, performing various moving figures, and especially for the great musical knowledge and vast repertoire, which infuse intense emotions in the viewer.
The Company Balestrieri practice the ancient discipline of sagittare with a Crossbow and Ancient Light performs with great precision and showmanship, to hit a target placed 20 meters away from the archer. Formed to compete among the "Quinteri Citizens" during the "Joust", is affiliated to the National League crossbow (LITAB), in which participates in national tournaments, along with other cities engaged in the same discipline. Our Company Balestrieri won the Italian Championship of Tyre with a Crossbow Ancient manesca in the years 2003-2006-2007.
The Company of Archers Owl was born in July 2010 with the aim to practice and propagate instinctive shooting with the arc center, with all that it entails, from the knowledge of the woods, the use of arches built by master artisan archaic, the construction of arrows, to arrive at the time of the shooting, whether simple or toward moving targets. He is a member of L.A.M. (League Medieval Archers) and participate in tournaments organized by them in many cities of Italy.
The Group Historic city of Cortona is present, on request, demonstrations and historical re-enactments, both in Italy and abroad. Our historical parade is composed of the Group Musici followed by the Flag-Wavers and the Historical Pageant and parade along the city street. The Flag-Wavers and Musicians also performs with choreography and performances with flags and Fire Games. And 'finally available for demonstrations and participation in shooting competitions with the crossbow by the Company of Archers. The whole is surrounded by the beautiful presence of the knights and ladies of the Historical Pageant.
