The path to the hill from the Piazza della Repubblica and Via Passerini taking the lane that passes under the arch of the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, we come directly to the Church of St. Francis of the thirteenth century. Going up the steep Via Berrettini you get to the heart of the hill, the upper part of the city. Along the way we find the square of the well rounded, which once drew drinking water, and left the birthplace of Pietro Berrettini, a great painter and architect of the seventeenth century. Further up you come to the square of the Pescaia, which takes its name from a Roman cistern was built on which the Monastery of Santa Chiara, the opposite side of the square we see the Church of St. Christopher. From here the road leading to Port Montanina, where are the remains of Etruscan walls and the Roman aqueduct. Going down Via San Niccolo, we left the beautiful Church of St. Nicholas fifteenth century characterized by an elegant portico, in which are preserved frescoes by Luca Signorelli. Along the left because of Santucce, you arrive at the Via Crucis (Viale Santa Margherita), enriched by fourteen stations with stone mosaics depicting "The Passion of the Christ." Towards the end of Viale Santa Margherita, at the Church of St. Mark, we are on the right door Berardi XIII secolo.Continuando it comes down to Via Nazionale between the local craft shops and traditional cafés are returned to the Republic Square, where our journey ends.
